Doula-ing the Doula
Mentorship & Sisterhood for Birth Workers
Mentorship & Sisterhood for Birth Workers
A Sanctuary for the Birth Worker
Because even the nurturer needs to be held. Labor With Love is a sanctuary for birth workers—a space where you can set down the heavy lift of the work and refill your own cup. My calling is to be a bridge for my doula sisters, providing the sacred mentorship and professional training needed to build sustainable, Spirit-led practices. Whether you are a new doula seeking your footing or a seasoned worker needing to return to your center, you belong in this sisterhood.
Personal Connection
Working 1:1 is where we move beyond theory and into true embodiment. This individual space is dedicated to untangling your specific blocks, refining your unique medicine, and receiving the heart-centered advocacy you need to grow and sustain your practice.
Private Mentorship
A 3-month high-touch journey to refine your craft and sustain your spirit. This is a deep, intimate partnership designed for the doula ready to radically embody her power as a birth worker. We walk hand-in-hand to help you discover your unique rhythm in this work, heal from personal, ancestral, and secondary birth trauma, and build the foundation of your practice that honors your energy.
Includes: Weekly check-ins, bi-weekly mentorship sessions, business and spiritual alignment protocols, and unlimited text/email support to navigate difficult births or business growth.
Investment: $2,400
Clarity Call
A one-on-one 60-minute session to work through a specific hurdle in your practice or birth work journey. Perfect for the doula needing an individual "drop of wisdom." Whether you are navigating a complex client relationship or a business crossroads, this hour is dedicated to returning you to your clarity.
Investment: $150
Sisterhood is a birthright, not a luxury. I actively secure grant funding and donations for these gatherings to ensure they remain low-cost or free—removing financial barriers so every doula can be held in community.
Seasonal in-person gatherings designed to foster community, build referral networks, and honor the labor we do together.
Format: Quarterly ticketed events.
A seasonal online circle for community connection, sharing birth stories, and participating in rituals to release the energy of our recent clients.
Format: Quarterly live video call.
Your contribution makes sustainability accessible for the doulas, on the ground, doing the good work. By donating to The Pour In, you are directly providing the space and resources needed for birth workers to rest, reconnect, and stay in their calling.
For sponsorship opportunities to support The Pour In, email lydia@laborwithlove.co.
Professional skill-building through an ancestral lens. These interactive workshops are designed to share comprehensive knowledge, helping you establish your expertise and serve your community with deeper confidence.
We dive deep into the topics you touched on in your doula training. Lydia and guest teachers alike bridge the medical and the sacred, offering training that ranges from hands-on comfort measures to comprehensive practice building.
The Ancestral Bridge: Mastering the intersection of clinical knowledge and traditional wisdom.
Physical Support & Bodywork: Hands-on skills including the use of the rebozo and herbal allies.
Format: Recorded modules or live workshops.
Investment: Single Intensives starting at $100 (includes $25 donation to The Pour In) | Signature Courses starting at $520.
I am deeply committed to ensuring that birth work wisdom remains accessible to those called to steward it. A select number of partial scholarships are available for doulas navigating financial barriers to their continued education. If your heart is in this work, but your resources are currently lean, please email lydia@laborwithlove.co with the Subject Line: Doula Rite Scholarship to inquire.
Bridging the gap between certification and calling. This apprenticeship is an invitation for the fresh doula to ground her training in real-world application through the Labor With Love framework.
Just as the lotus emerges through the mud to reach the surface, this internship is for the emerging practitioner who is ready to push through the "mud" of the unknown and find her footing in birth work.
This is a sacred energy exchange designed for doulas with limited experience. Rather than a traditional part-time “job”, you become a Labor With Love Lotus—learning through proximity as you witness how we bridge the clinical and the sacred in real-time.
The Flow of Integration
Your journey as an intern follows a three-fold path:
Rooting: Absorbing the LWL philosophy through deep observation and shadowing.
Rising: Stepping into assisted participation and supporting the essential "behind-the-scenes" of client support.
Blooming: Taking initiative under direct guidance to build your confidence as a future leader in this field.
The Exchange
This internship is an unpaid mentorship-based experience. The value lies in your professional refinement and the future leverage you gain by aligning with a standard of excellence. We are here to cultivate your capacity, helping you move from a student to a confident, rooted birth worker.
If you are ready to anchor your training in experience, email lydia@laborwithlove.co with the Subject Line: LWL Internship Inquiry.

Do I need to already be a doula to work with you?
Not at all. If you are feeling the call but don't know where to plant your feet, you are in the right place. Navigating your first steps in birth work—choosing the right training, understanding what kind of work you want to do, and building a sustainable foundation—can feel daunting. I highly recommend booking a Clarity Call to help you find your footing. We will use that hour to ensure your time, energy, and resources are invested in a path that actually honors your unique ashe.
Do you offer a full-spectrum doula training?
Yes. I am proud to be the co-facilitator of Mamananda Doula Training. While my 1:1 mentorship is focused on your individual practice, healing, and energetic sustainability, Mamananda is where you can receive comprehensive, heart-centered training as a full-spectrum doula approved for Maryland Medicaid reimbursement. Please visit our website for upcoming training dates and details.
What is the difference between a training and a mentorship?
A training (like Mamananda) provides you with the foundational skills and "the what" of doula work. A mentorship (like Sow Your Seeds) is about "the how" and "the who." We focus on your specific business development, your spiritual health, and the ancestral or personal blocks that might be keeping you from showing up fully. It is a high-touch, 3-month partnership designed for deep, private transformation.
Do you help with the "business side" of being a doula?
Absolutely. Sustainability requires a balance of Spirit and structure. In our Sow Your Seeds: Private Mentorship, we walk through business and spiritual alignment protocols. We’ll refine your offerings, discuss pricing that honors your worth, and create a workflow that allows you to serve your community without burning out.
I’m not in Baltimore—can I still work with you?
Yes. While I love the magic of an in-person "Pour In," the majority of my mentorship work happens virtually. My Private Mentorship and Clarity Calls are available to doulas worldwide. We use Google Meet for our sessions and I offer unlimited text/email support between calls to navigate difficult births or business growth in real-time.
How do I know if I’m ready for a 3-month mentorship?
If you feel like you are "doing the work" but constantly feel depleted, or if you are ready to transition your practice from a hobby to a Spirit-led career, you are ready. My mentorship is for the doula who wants to move beyond theory and radically embody her power. We’ll use our Clarity Call to make sure the 3-month mentorship is the right fit for your current season.
What is the difference between the Private Mentorship and the Labor With Love Internship?
Choosing the right path depends on your current season and what you need most to move forward.
The Private Mentorship is a paid, 3-month strategic partnership focused on world-building. It is designed for the doula (whether fresh or seasoned) who is ready to invest financially in the evolution of her own practice. Our focus is on the "inner work" and the "business work"—refining your unique practice, healing from ancestral or secondary trauma, and creating a sustainable, Spirit-led structure for your career.
The LWL Internship is an unpaid, hands-on apprenticeship designed specifically for fresh doulas who need to anchor their training in experience. Instead of a financial investment, the exchange is your time and operational presence in support of the Labor With Love ecosystem. In return, you receive direct proximity to the work—witnessing births, shadowing consultations, and learning the practical application of birth work. This is about building your foundational capacity and leadership in the birth space.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Honoring your worth shouldn't mean creating a financial crisis. Flexible payment plans are available for the Sow Your Seeds mentorship to ensure this level of support is accessible while still honoring the deep exchange of energy required for 1:1 work.
